Thoughts: Sexual orientation is not news!

Ive been silent for about a week now. Sorry to all my faithful readers, I had to take a break.
So jumping right back on the horse lets get into it.  Its time to talk about how messed up society theses days (well all days really) Is.

So recently, as I am sure most of you know, a very prominent reporter by the name of anderson cooper came out reviling that he is gay.  Big deal right?  Well apparently to some it is.  That brings me to the point of this post dear reader.  Why is someones sexual orientation such a big deal in our society?  It drives me nuts.  For some reason, unknown to me, there is still groups of people that think something as trivial as someones sexual orientation affects their ability to be a functioning human being.  WHAT!?  Thats possibly the most ignorant thing I have ever heard.  Thats as idiotic as saying someones color preference affects their ability to ride a bike.  Or that someone who loves sushi can't possibly be good at science.  Are my analogies making any sense?  No?  Good because they aren't supposed to.  Whom ever someone choses to love or share their life with has nothing to do with their credibility, their reasoning skills, or their ability to take an unbiased view.  Earlier I posed a question.  I asked why was someones sexual orientation so important to our society?  There are really two answers to this question. On one side you have the LGBT community and its supporters.  They keep a close eye and ear out for news of anybody coming out to the world, especially those that are famous on any level.  Why?  Mostly to add strength and numbers to their cause.  The other side of this coin has multiple reasons to take an interest on the subject.  One of the more dominate reasons is something called xenophobia,  I honestly feel a bit sorry for people that suffer from this.  Xenophobia is the fear of that which is different or foreign.  This phobia is particularly unfortunate because someone suffering from it cannot accept something or someone that is different from themselves.  Now while xenophobia is a real thing, there are those who are simply opposed to people that are different or, have different views than they do.  I do not feel sorry for them, they simply refuse to listen to reason.  Which ever reasoning anybody has for making it a big deal that somebody revealed their sexual orientation.  Think about it first, in this stage of our society this sort of thing should not be news, no more so than what my favorite color is, or my favorite type of candy.  We need to move past it.

Let personal things stay personal.
