Thoughts: decisions, decisions..

Hello all! Day two and still at it I think this is a start to a wonderful thing! So as I stated before I am a photographer so I will be doing photography things on here constantly! So with this post will be some Photographs! YAY!!!
Ok. I haven't told you all yet but I am currently a student I attend The Art Institute of Houston and of course I study photography.  At this time in my education I am faced with deciding what type of photography I want to pursue as my career (bet some of you didn't realize there are different paths to take under the umbrella of photography).  Now as daunting of a task this is I have narrowed it down to two categories, Product photography, and Food photography.  Some will argue that they are both commercial photography and they would be right but they are still two different monsters! Product is, well its quite a bit more straight forward than food is.  Food requires a plethora of talents to come together and meld well that is harder than it sounds. Food styling is a huge component of food photography, beyond that there is the art director and the photographer themselves that have major input in what the final shot will look like.  So the process goes a little like this; the art director has a vision, the photographer and the food stylist have to come together and figure out how to creatively problem solve this vision into reality.  Sounds like fun! And it is, the catch is food styling is a crazy mixture of magic, art, and science! Many times the photographer becomes the food stylist (there we go again, us artists always wearing all the hats!) SO CHRIS WHATS THE PROBLEM? Well put simply, I haven't learned food styling yet, it is what I want to focus on but I lack the skill set so I will set out to learn it.  Now as far as I am leaning toward food I am also drawn toward product. Lets talk about product photography for just a second.  Product photography is taking a product, be it a soda, a water bottle, a cellphone, a computer, or a pair of shoes if its sold to people its a product.  The job of the product photographer is to make the consumer ( < a fancy word for all of us) want to buy it, simple!? Well most of the time.  For example, how exciting does photographing towels or a microwave sound? Not very, but that is the challenge! And since I love a good challenge I am drawn to it.  So alas here I am working on polishing up my skill in these two categories and still no answer as to which I will choose but I will make a decision before graduation! I am determined.

Down below for your consideration are examples of my own attempts at the two types of photography mentioned in this post let me know what you think!
